Blizzard, Stranded, and Cabin Fever

It all started about two Thursday's ago. Ailish had a lovely play date with her friend Logan. They watched the new movie "Frozen" as they ate the wonderful display of fruit and popcorn Logan's mom prepared for them. By the time we watched "Frozen" one and a half times it was time for the daddy's to get off work. So, Ailish and I were in agreement to pick daddy up from work so he would not have to walk home in the wind, snow, and rain. We parked outside the hanger and waited and waited and waited until I decided to turn the vehicle off (bad decision). Ailish and I continue to wait 15 more minutes until daddy finally got off work. We were relieved since Ian had been crying practically the whole time. Will gets in and the vehicle does not start (I had tried a couple of times with no success). Will went back in the hanger to see if someone could give us a jump. It took about 20 minutes of trying for the vehicle to start. All the while Ian is screaming and Ailish is in the driver's seat pretending to drive, sweetly saying, "This is fun!"while smiling from ear to ear.

We were really blessed with our friends pick up truck for the weekend. Ailish was so excited as Will put her in the truck. She kept saying, "Big truck." "I'm cool." as she giggled and smiled. Ailish and Ian were able to attend a fun birthday party that included looking for dragon eggs on Old Woman trail. Unfortunately, I didn't put the kids snow pants on. We ended up hiking off trail over creeks and wide gaped wooden bridge. Ian loved it! Even after falling and rolling into the snow. On the other hand, poor Ailish about had hypothermia with fatigue setting in. Daddy had to rush her back to the birthday boys house to warm up before the final dragon egg find. It didn't help that the evening before we bundled the kids up in the Bob double jogging stroller and mushed through the insane wind, snow, and ice to the exchange. Ailish insisted not to wear a hat on the way back on Daddy's shoulders. By the end of the weekend Ailish was doing front flips off our love seat and laughing. By Monday daddy had installed the new starter and everyone was happy to have "wheels" again. Although it was nice to be in a big truck again and windows actually rolled down. We so took advantage of that!
